Wally Heremes Yacht Reveals $160 Million “Floating Island” in Abu Dhabi
By Alex Neely • • Category: News & Noteworthy, YachtingAt this week’s Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, Wally-Hermes Yacht (WHY) revealed designs for their “Floating Island” yacht.
Created by the French fashion house Hermes and Monaco-based ship builder Wally, the $160 million yacht will measure at 58×38 meters. The inspiration behind the tag-team of designers was to create the euphoric nature of a floating, private island.
Not only displaying aptly configured craftsmanship, the “floating island” is also an environmentally friendly yacht. With over 2,000 kWh of stored energy, the WHY’s creation can save an estimated 200 tons per year on diesel fuel. This innovative technology allows the owners to predict that the “island” could make four Atlantic crossings without any major maintenance.
At a maximum cruising speed of 14 knots, the WHY designs feature enough space for 12 guests and an additional 20 crew members.
Conceived with the owner in mind, the top level is comprised of a single suite at 200 meters, accompanied by a 25-metre private terrace.
Below the owner’s level lie guest suites, a 25-metre-long swimming pool, and a 36-metre deck beach. Lending to the sparkle of design originality, the second story revolving roof provides each guest with the option of viewing the serene landscape or relaxing in a peaceful nirvana.
