Vintage Meets Innovation with Brinkmann Bardo’s $7,990 Turntable

Premier sound was not the only noise to reverberate from the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. A buzz still lingers from the remarkable concept of Brinkmann Bardo’s turntable.

For several decades, high-end audio manufacturers have struggled to create the perfect record player – balancing the vintage technology with modern acoustics. However, this Bardo’s turntable may eliminate this conundrum.

Where most high-end audio manufacturers constructed a separate drive motor connected through a belt, Brinkmann implemented the motor directly into the record platter. At a light weight of 32 pounds, the turntable has designed the platter to accompany the motor magnets and hide the motor’s coil rest underneath.

The true auditory brilliance of Brinkmann lies within the innovation of the single bearing and optical tachometer. In years past record player’s sound was hindered by vibration, where as now the single bearing reduces excess movement within the motor and the platter. Partnering with the single bearing, the optical tachometer measures the platter’s rotational speed, while automatically adjusting it to perfect 33 or 45 revolutions.

The $7,990 Bardo turntable is cradled by a granite platform, providing a solid base. In addition each customer can select several different custom options, such as, three tonearms, four cartridges, a ground-glass platter mat, power supply, and a locking record clamp.
