Vacheron Constantine to Unveil New Watches at SIHH

By timbaysinger • Jan 12th, 2010 • Category: Horology, News & Noteworthy

Vacheron Constantine has been around since 1755, making it one of the oldest watch manufactures in the world. In an effort to celebrate part of its history, the 250 year old company will unveil two new pieces: Historiques Ultra-fine 1955, and 1968.

Bolstering its “Historiques” collection, these two new creations are directly inspired by its heritage, each imbuing one of two legendary calibres with a new and distinctively modern touch. The 1955 model (pictured right) is equipped with the mechanical hand-wound 1003 movement – the thinnest in the world at just 1.64 mm thick - rebuilt for this model in 18-carat gold, and bears the Hallmark of Geneva. The 1968 version (pictured left) is fixed with the ultra-thin mechanical self-winding 1120 movement, featuring a new decorated oscillating weight, and also bears the Hallmark of Geneva.

Releasing these timepieces at the upcoming Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), these watches will be one of the premier items. Price is also expected to be released as well during the showcase, which begins January 18th and goes until the 22nd.
