Ulysse Nardin Unveils $1 Million Royal Blue Tourbillon

By Alex Neely • • Category: Horology, News & Noteworthy

Pablo Picasso had his Blue Period, and now Ulysse Nardin will follow suit with their debut of the Royal Blue Tourbillon.

Ulysse Nardin will only release 30 pieces of this rare horological gem. With unparalleled elegance, the Royal Blue Tourbillon defines sophistication with perfectly arranged diamonds and sapphires, cut with majestic precision.

At a diameter of 43 mm, the watch is highlighted by 128 baguette diamonds and 57 blue sapphires, enhancing the voluptuous nature of the watch. The actual setting of the bracelet of 432 baguette diamonds and 176 blue sapphire baguettes adorn the intricacy of the Royal Blue. Garnishing the entire package is a crown fit with 8 baguette diamonds and a cabochon sapphire, only emphasizing the exquisite quality of the watch.

Due to the effort of the blue sapphire bridges and main plates, the tourbillon is able to float in an empty space. Further adding to the mysterious complexion, the actual winding system is naked to the eye; lending to the question: What holds up this flying tourbillion?

The interior of platinum bezel is not only aesthetically pleasing, but the miraculous force within the setting cogs and wheels adds to the Royal Blue’s avant-garde element.

Distributed in a platinum case, the Royal Tourbillon will either feature the aforementioned bracelet, or an alligator strap which is accentuated with a platinum folding buckle. Although price has not yet been announced, it is expected to cost upwards of $1 million.
