Premier Firearms to Auction $50,000 Henry Lever Action Rifle

By Alex Neely • • Category: Collect, News & Noteworthy

On May 1st, Premier Firearms is set to auction off one of weaponry’s rarest items: an Engraved New Haven Arms Henry Lever Action Rifle for an estimated $50,000.

Manufactured in 1863, the Henry Lever Action Rifle was the first of its kind, with an early-style receiver, rear sight dovetail, and highly innovative pattern buttplate with rounded spur. Engraved by the legendary Samual J. Hoggson, the rifle has a distinct pattern of large scrolls on a punch-dot background. On either side of the rifle, Hoggson intricately detailed large flowers highlighted by the engraving of a hound pursuing a buck on the left side.

Encompassing the silver brass receiver and buttplate, along with the blued barrel is a regal, high polish varnish. The barrel itself is equipped with a brass, half-moon, front sight and folding leaf rear sight with a 900 yard center notch. At the top of the barrel flat is the attached two-line legend: “HENRY’S PATENT OCT. 16. 1860/MANUFACT’D BY THE NEWHAVEN ARMS CO. NEWHAVEN. CT”.

In addition to this exclusive release, several other sporting rifles will hit the Premier Firearms’ auction block; such as, an exceptional Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle (Est.$ 22,500-$27,000), a spectacular, Winchester Model 1886 Fancy Sporting Rifle (Est. $30,000-$50,000), a rare Deluxe, Special Order, Winchester Model 1873 Rifle (Est. $25,000-$37,000), and a Limited Winchester Caliber .50-110 W.C.F. Express Model 1886 (Est. $16,000-$25,000).

Scheduled to begin at 10am, the Premier Firearms Auction will be held at 4507 49th Avenue. Moline, Illinois, USA.
