Patrizzi to Auction F.P. Journe Watch for $450,000
By timbaysinger • • Category: Horology, News & NoteworthyHighlighting its June sale of “World Time” watches, the Sonniere Souveraine from F.P. Journe will be offered for an estimated $450,000 to $550,000.
Originally made in 2007, this minute-repeater from the Swiss watchmaker features grande et petite sonnerie striking chimes and a power reserve indicator. Described as being “safe to use by an eight-year-old child” by François-Paul Journe himself, this timepiece was a breakthrough for chiming watches. It is a former recipient of the Golden Hand award at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
Along with the Sonnerie Souveraine, a slew of other important timepieces will be up for auction: an 18k yellow-gold Cartier Art Deco Mystery Clock (Est. $300,000 to $400,000); an 18k yellow-gold Breguet Souscription Set (Est. $100,000 to $140,000); and Patek Philippe 18k yellow-gold World Time ($150,000 to $180,000), and 18k pink-gold Perpetual Calendar Chronograph ($100,000 to $130,000).
A three-day preview session will be held from June 12 to June 14, and a silent auction will run concurrently, featuring 150 to 200 select timepieces from the likes of Patek Philippe, Rolex, Cartier, Omega, Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet. Both the preview and silent sale will be extended to Hong Kong (May 30 – June 3) and Shanghai (June 5 – 7); the silent sale will be offered in Hong Kong only.
Patrizzi’s “Timeless Emotions” sale will take place June 15 in New York, and will be split into two sessions, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
