Natural History Sale to Offer Gold Crystal for Estimated $170,000
By timbaysinger • • Category: Collect, News & NoteworthyNext month, Heritage Auctions will offer a selection of exceptional crystals at their Beverly Hills, Calif. showroom. The top item at this Natural History Auction is a Gold Crystal that is estimated between $170,000 and $225,000.
From California’s “The Eagle’s Nest” Mine, this is one of the most impressive examples of gold. Featuring burnt sienna sprayed around surrounding gold spots, the crystal’s form appears to grow out from under the white Quartz matrix. Shining from every facet of its surface, this precious gem shows off rich, buttery reflections that make for an eye-catching specimen.
The overall dimensions of the piece are 7.5-inches high by 2-inches wide by 1-inch thick.
Also up for sale are two other museum quality gems, “The Hill Twin Emerald,” (Est. $130,000 to $150,000) and a Calcite crystal (Est. $120,000 to $160,000). At an astounding 9.5 inches, “The Hill Twin Emerald” is the longest Emerald Crystal ever found in North America. Uncovered in North Carolina, this jewel is made up of two adjoined crystals; one of the crystals by itself is 7.25 inches long.
Perched on a blue-violet cubic Fluorite, the Calcite crystal radiates a golden orange coloration. Coming out of the famed Elmwood Mine in Tennessee, the combination of the two gems provides a stunning contrast.
Heritage Auction’s Natural History sale will be held on June 6th.
