Mercedes-Benz Style Helicopter Unveiled at EBACE
By Alex Neely • • Category: Aviation, News & NoteworthyThe European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) began its first day in style when Eurocopter unveiled the new EC145 helicopter that was developed by Mercedes-Benz.
Designed at the automotive manufacturer’s studio in Como, Italy, the EC145 is a mid-sized, twin-engine helicopter, which can accommodate eight passengers. Although eight passengers for a helicopter may sound like tight quarters, Mercedes Benz expertly optimized the interior space to be suited for business, VIP, or leisure travel.
Modeled after the Mercedes-Benz R-Class range of cars, the seat upholstery and the floor are created with deluxe materials in a variety of different colors. In order to ease reconfiguration, Mercedes-Benz installed each seat and three multifunction boxes on mounted rails. In addition, the interior of the helicopter comes equipped with a cool box, cup holders, table, monitor, a DVD player, as well some extra storage space.
Inspired by their other prestigious models, Mercedes Benz affixed the same ambient lighting from the E-Class and S-Class vehicles into the cabin of the EC145. In the past Eurocopter sold 315 EC145s around the world, and hopes to sell even more Mercedes Benz-style EC145’s now that “the order book officially opens now.”
