Abra Marine debuted the unique Sofa Boat at last week’s Abu Dhabi Boat Show.

Electronically charged, the $16,070 environmentally friendly craft produces no emissions whatsoever. Abra Marine’s innovative battery technology allows each boat to run quietly for up to 12 hours on a rechargeable battery.

In an attempt to propel the development of green vehicles, Abra Marine is also developing a solar-powered Sofa Boat; which will deliver up to 10 hours of performance at a time.

The operation of the Sofa Boat is conducted with the simplicity of a joystick, in order to broaden the desired market of families and women. With unique open exposure, the question of vulnerability comes into effect; however the soft padding surrounding the outside will prevent any serious damage. Along with proficient safety regulations, the Sofa Boat offers a luxury package, which includes a sun canopy, cocktail tables, leather seats, and a stereo.

Martin Mai, managing director of Abra Marine said he “wanted to offer boats that were low noise, easy –to-handle craft that are perfect for quiet sundowners”, and from the looks of things he has.
