Louis Moinet’s Jurassic Tourbillon Price Announced at CHF 310,000

By timbaysinger • Mar 16th, 2010 • Category: Horology, News & Noteworthy

With a dial constructed out of an authentic fossilized dinosaur bone, Louis Moinet’s latest watch is one of the rarest timepieces out there.

Found in western North America, the bone was authenticated by geologist Dr. Andreas Stucki from the Saurier Museum in Switzerland; the bone is believed to be 150 million years old. This limited edition of 12 sports an exclusive tourbillon movement with a hand-winding mechanism that is visible through the case-back with an “octopus” spring.

Made from 18-kt white gold, the bezel and horns are set with 56 Top Wesselton VVS baguette diamonds. A genuine galuchat bracelet with an 18-kt white folding clasp attaches this rare beauty to your wrist with the utmost comfort. As an added bonus, the watch box includes a genuine fossilized dinosaur egg.

This CHF 310,000 watch will be unveiled at Baselworld 2010, showcased by Louis Moinet’s “Time Explorator.” The 3m x 2m machine will serve as a “journey through time” that will display nine historical milestones through nine different portholes, with the Jurassic Tourbillon as the grand showcase.
