By timbaysinger • • Category: Consumer Technology, News & NoteworthyWhether you want to be aware of any potential medical conditions, or simply have an interest your own body, San Diego-based Illumina will map your entire genome an what is an unprecedented service.
With a doctor’s prescription, Illumina will decode, catalog, and analyze the basic building blocks that make you… you. This service can detect if any of your body’s genes are defective, meaning if there is a history of a certain health condition in your family that you may not have known about, it will be flagged.
While this service is cutting edge, it is also pricy at $48,000 a person. So far ten people have undergone complete genome sequencing by the California firm, including actress Glenn Close.
