Go Above and Below Sea Level in the £100,000 Scubacraft
By timbaysinger • • Category: News & NoteworthyCombining surface performance with dynamic underwater control, the Scubacraft provides the best of boating and submarining…in one watercraft.
The vehicle, which recently completed testing at England’s Pinewood Studios, comes in two models: the SC3 (3-person) and the SC6 (6-person). Above water, this hybrid vessel’s engine produces up to 160hp (250hp in the bigger model) to glide the boat at 50mph. When underwater, the electric thrusters cut through the water at a blistering three knots.
The twin-hulled craft features an on board GPS and dive computer, manually activated dive procedure, and a VHF radio with underwater communications. The craft also sports a jet drive with a high performance pump, inflatable control, and hydrodynamic control. It can can get as low as 30 meters underwater; the SC6 model can go 50 meters. This ship is not enclosed, so proper scuba gear would be a good idea to have.
Prices for the Scubacraft start at £100,000, and orders can be currently placed online. Delivery is expected towards the end of 2010.
