Glashütte Original Unveils Senator Diary at Baselworld
By timbaysinger • • Category: Horology, News & NoteworthyGlashütte Original unveiled one of its newest timepieces, the Senator Diary, at Baselworld 2010.
This latest piece from the luxury watchmaker is the first mechanical timekeeper that can set an alarm up to 30 days in advance. Using pinpoint precision, the Senator Diary is balanced with two crowns at opposite ends of the stainless steel case, where a pusher flanks each one. Positioned at the three o’clock mark on the galvanized black dial, the right-side crown and pusher operate the compelling panorama date display. White gold hour, minute and sweep second hands enhance the elegance of the design.
At the heart of this fascinating timepiece is the new Glashütte Original Caliber 100-13, a combination of the Caliber 100-03 and the amazing new diary appointment module, a total of 600 components – 340 of them on the appointment module alone. A three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing, polished steel components, beveled edges and blued screws are easily visible through the antireflective sapphire crystal case back.
The Senator Diary is available as described above and in a version featuring a rose gold case, rose gold hour, minute and sweep second hands and applied rose gold hour markers on a galvanized silver dial. The date indicator on the diary alarm subdial is in blue, as is the small arrow indicating the diary alarm time aperture at 6 o’clock.
No word on price yet, but magnificent pieces such as these do not come cheap.
