Dornier Seaplane Prepares Launch of $6 Million Seastar

Two years from now, Dornier Seaplane will reinvent aviation technology with the release of the 2012 Seastar.

After several months of preparation, Dornier Seaplane will now officially begin production on this revolutionary craft. With a PR-6 twin-engined amphibious turboprop, the Seastar has the dual-capability to take off and land on either a solid or liquid surface.

With over 90 years of experience in the field, Dornier incorporated state-of-the-art cockpit avionics and multi-sensor consoles into a remarkably quiet aircraft. Although the Seastar is a mere 10,000 pounds of All-Composite fiber, it has enough space to comfortably seat 12 people.

In the sky the CD 2 Series Aircraft has the maneuverability of a private jet, while in the water Seastar has the speed of a powerboat. “We hope to finish building the assembly facility in the third quarter of next year and deliver the first aircraft in 2012. The supplier selection process should also be completed within 12 months,” said Dornier Seaplane Chief Executive Joe Walker.
