China Celebrates History with $29,284 Golden Camera

Including their Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 Gold lens, Leica has fitted the entire camera with 24 carat gold. The body is also covered with their Red Box Calf Leather, features a Mao Zedong inscription (his favorite slogan) in red calligraphy, and Tiananmen Square pattern.
Fittingly, there will only be 60 versions of this camera, with each edition individually numbered from 1949 to 2009. Each is presented in luxury wooden box.
This limited edition, which will be exclusively sold in mainland China, comes at a price of $29,284 (199,900 Chinese Yuan).
