Immediately following Porsche’s 911 GT2 RS announcement, BMW unveiled the 450 PS M3 GTS – the fastest ever M3.

With details of the vehicle’s 4.4 liter version revealed in November of 2009, the automotive industry speculated the true performance of the vehicle. Although the performance figures are not comparable to the GT2 RS, the GTS is still impressive, now ranking as the quickest model in BMW’s current range. The GTS bolsters a top speed of 191 mph, while accelerating in just 4.4 seconds from zero to 62 mph.

Propelled by a V8 engine (exclusively created for the BMW M3) the GTS offers a unique increased displacement, power output and maximum torque that only this engine can produce. BMW – inspired by the highest evolution in automotive – installed the M Dual Clutch Drivelogic gearbox, which allows for the 7-speed transmission of power.

In addition, the GTS specifically tuned the stability control function with DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), giving the driver a full range of ABS, M Dynamic Mode (MDM), and optimum transfer of acceleration.

Defined by its racing performance, the interior of the GTS is fully equipped with bucket seats, carbon interior trims, Alcantra steering wheel, six-point safety seat belts, and a roll bar fitted behind the B-pillars.

Even though BMW recently released the M6 – a vehicle with ample performance figures – the BMW 3-seris is the epitome of success in the world of motorsports. Over the past few decades, the 3-series is unsurpassed by any vehicle in the history of tour car racing victories.

Available in January of 2011, the GTS will be priced at €136.850.
